Scrapbook Retreat 20 - 22 March 2015

Hi Scrappers

Excitement is very high for our next scrapbook retreat which will be held at Lions Rest Guest House (www.lionsrestbnb.co.za).

Kit 1 - Kaisercraft: Expressions:

The Kaisercraft Expressions range has loads of amazing colours!!!  Although we won’t be using all the pages in this pack to create the 6 layouts, you will receive the whole paper pack.  Won't be difficult to create 6 double page layouts from this awesome variety. Loads of extra goodies will be included to make this kit wow!

Kit 2 - Kaisercraft: Betsy's & Wanderlust:

For this kit we have chosen two different Kaiser collection kits to create the 6 double page layouts.  The one is a travel pack and the other has a nice "old fashioned" feel (we have only added 3 images per collection). Once again this kit too will have loads of goodies too!!

Costs for Retreat:

Costings have gone up slightly ... this is so we can add more goodies to your kits!!! Nothing more exciting than opening up your kit and finding decent scrapbooking stash!

Attending R2,350-00: (this includes accommodation, meals, goodie bag, prizes and more than enough stock to do a minimum of 6 double page layouts.  At our last retreat some ladies were able to do another 3 layouts with the leftover stock!)
Non-Attending: R1,550-00 (goodie bag & entire kit)

If you are interested in joining us please send me an email and I will send banking details. A R500-00 non-refundable deposit will secure your spot.   Full payment for the retreat only needs to be paid by the end of February ...

Hope to see you at our retreat!!!!

Forget me not kit

This kit has just been finished and packed ready to be bought @ R210-00 or class notes @ R60-00.  I just love the bright colours even though the page is very sad.  Scrapbooking is about the good and bad moments in your life.  This page shows a technique of using your cuttlebug and cutting embossing from foil plates.

Notes

If you would like to purchase class notes of any of the pages, please contact me on shazleescrap@mweb.co.za.  They sell for R60-00 a set of notes.  If you are overseas, payment could be made via my paypal account and the notes emailed.

Santa's Key

I designed this page using the Scrap Collections range of papers and a Let's Scrap sketch.  A paper piecing element was created using a cat.  I still have a few kits left @ R165-00 if you are interested.

Craftsman range of papers

During the months of December and January, I had 2 full days where we created 6 double page layouts using the Kaiser Craft - Craftsman range of papers.  I also used Let's Scrap sketches for 3 of them.  I loved this range and here are the layouts that I created.

Pocket Tag

Our full day scrap is fully booked for 2 March 2013.  45 Ladies attending on the day - it is going to be awesome.  We still have a handful of kits left @ R350-00 for 2 double page layouts.  One of the things the ladies are going to be shown is how to make this "simple" pocket tag.

1.  Cut cardstock to an A4 sheet of paper.  Fold in half and then in half again.
2.  Open cardstock up, smooth side up.  Fold two bottom corners up to centre line.
3.  Now measure 4cm from the centre line to the left and fold corner in as shown
4.Fold the left side onto the right side.  Add tape on the side where my two top fingers are and the straight right hand bottom side.
5.  Now fold the bottom piece onto the top piece and you have a beautiful tag pocket made in 5 easy steps.

You can decorate as you wish.  The middle fold could have a piece of patterned paper, the outside fold could have a photo attached or even flowers.  Let your creativity show and I'd love to see what you come up with on a layout.

Full day of Scrapbooking - 2 March 2013

I can't believe its been 8 months since I last posted.  The last time was just before I was leaving for the UK to visit my mom.  But since then, she has been diagnosed with not 1 cancer but 2 and it has been an emotional roller coaster ride especially with me in SA and she in the UK.  Then my father in law needed to have this leg used together at the knee joint and has been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia.  With him living on our property, a lot of the responsibility fell on my shoulders.  It doesn't end there, in November 2012 my long time friend of 32 years took her life.  But 2013 is a year of new beginnings and although my parents health issues are still a concern, life carries on.......

We are onto out 6th full scrapbooking event and we have on average 40 - 60 ladies either attending or buying the kits.

FULL DAY OF SCRAPBOOKING
Our full days of scrapbooking are such a hit and the ladies absolutely love them.  The kits are jam packed with value for money and included in the price is a delicious home cooked meal.  We are very conscious of the bad economy so have decided to keep the price for the full day the same as last year.  Remember to book soon to avoid disappointment.
Life’s a journey

A stunning layout where you create a book using a new technique.  Lots of photos of your travels can be placed inside the book.
Memories

A colourful page that could hold photos of a special person in your life, children or even your pets.  You will be shown a technique on how to create a 3 fold tag pocket from an A4 sheet of paper.

Book and pay by 5 February 2013 and receive a free double page layout valued at R150-00.

May is (Inter) National Scrapbook Month

Today is the 1st May and (Inter) National Scrapbook Month and once again Let's Scrap is bringing us loads of Challenges and most of all FUN!  I hope you all remembered to get your Bingo words in by 25th April because last year we had lots of excitement and friendly competition.  This year is going to be a challenge for me as I leave for the UK on 21 May, so am hoping I can pick up WiFi everyday to get my words or better yet shout BINGO before I even leave :).

I have been a terrible blogger - just been so busy designing pages, finishing a scrapbook album for my friend and getting it delivered and now finishing an album for my mom which has to go to the UK with me.  Anyway no excuses I should be loading pictures of what I've been up to and will try and do this later today.

If you're not already a member of Let's Scrap I suggest you get on down there and join in the  FUN!!!

See you around......

 I REMEMBER WHEN……

This is the second layout for the day and is a travel page.  The papers used are from the new range of travel papers from SCRAP COLLECTIONS.  This page is perfect if you have loads of photos as you will be creating a “hard covered” book with lots of flaps on the inside.

The month of February

A lot has happened over the last month.  My mom emigrated to the UK which was quite emotional.  To help with all the stress in my life, I decided to scrap.  Scrapbook 'n Things had a special for the month of February where you paid R300 and you could attend as many classes as you wanted.  I definitely made the most of this offer.  I completed at least 2 double pages a week.  My aim was to complete one of the albums that my mom had asked me to do of my step-father and just chill.  I was doing someone else's pages, so I didn't have to think either it was absolute bliss.

Then we had the Leap around the World blog hop which was also fun, although time consuming.  I am still trying to figure out if it was the blog hop that made me use my 10gig allowance of broadband :).  If you don't tell my family, I certainly wont.

Lara from Scrapbook 'n Things also has a monthly challenge where you buy a kit at less 20% and you must use everything in the kit and come up with a unique design.  The customers that come into the shop then get to vote and the winner gets a American Cardstock pack + a gift voucher to shop in the store.  Not bad actually.

This is one of the pages I designed using the Scrap Collections range of papers and a Let's Scrap sketch.

I also arranged a scrapbook fundraiser which was held on 18 February 2012 and thanks to Michelle van Wyk for helping me with the double page layout called Seek, I designed another single page of all the precious children at Tsholofelo Baby Sanctuary where I volunteer called Love Blooms Here.

My mission for the month of March is to finish all my unfinished pages and their are loads of them.  I battle putting on titles and doing journalling. As I finish, I will take photo's and load them for all to see.

Happy Scrapping
Sharon

"D" DAY

Can you believe that a whole month has gone past.  I was very optimistic and thought I would get all 50 cards made, but alas only managed 14.  I also haven't updated my blog this month, purely because I didn't know how to keep the Blog Hop on the top.  I better start learning all these things soon.  I have had such fun reading your comments and seeing your cards.  Thank you so much for playing along and following my blog.  Cross fingers that you will be the winner of my RAK.  I will be doing the draw tomorrow morning SA time using the www.random.org system to make it fair.

I will start posting what I have been up to next week just so that you know I have been busy.  Apart from my 14 cards, I made about 8 double page layouts.

Got to sign off now.  Sleep tight and for those of you who still have to load cards, make comments and become a follower you best hurry as time is running out.

Leap around the World Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to your next stop in the

If you came here from Sesil Cratin @ their blog http://sesilcratin.blogspot.com/ then you are in the right place! If you did not, Mindi Brown @ http://scrapchat-n-coffeetalk.blogspot.com/ has the hop order to help you find your way.

I am so excited to be a blog host for such a fun and huge blog hop! I joined the blog hop at Let's Scrap at the beginning of 2010 and it was loads of fun.  I got so many layouts completed and even won RAK!
Here is the sketch I am showcasing for the hop……

Here are my example(s)

In this card, the top strip says Happy Birthday which takes the form of the sentiment.  I dipped the edges of the pattern paper in water and rolled the edges to give the card a grungy look because it was for my son.

Both these cards were created for my son who just turned 21. Now for the fun part! Here is the RAK that I am offering!

Here is how easy it is to enter for my random draw:

*Be or become a member of Let’s Scrap which you can do by clicking here http://letsscrap.ning.com/. It is free, easy and fast! Once you get there, I am sure you will love it!

*Become a follower of my blog

*Leave me a comment telling me what you think of this sketch and the blog hop, and if you would like a second chance in the draw

*Make a card from the sketch I have posted and upload it to the gallery at Let’s Scrap. Please tag it as 1-20-10, LEAP22.  Please note there is a space after the comma, and no space between LEAP and 22 and that LEAP is all capitals.

*Leave a comment with a link to your card on Let’s Scrap.

The hop ends at 11:59 pm Central Standard time February 29th, which you would be able to track using the clock on the main page of Let’s Scrap.

Thanks for visiting, my blog page and becoming a follower. Your next stop will be the talented
Anne Gaffney-iehl

If you get lost along the way or have joined the hop in the middle, Mindi Brown @ http://scrapchat-n-coffeetalk.blogspot.com/ is the beginning of the hop. You don’t want to miss any of the fun!

So get scrapping and make all the cards you will need for 2012 and even 2013!

Looking forward to seeing what you create.

6 days and counting

Well in less than a week we start with the Let's Scrap blog hop.  I am nearly ready - just a few technical hitches but I'm sure they will be sorted out by the 1st February.  I'm off tomorrow to go and buy some RAK for the lucky winner and I can't wait, it is just obvious that I will have to buy some more stuff for myself (lol).  I think my stash is more than my pages.

So in preparation of the blog hop, I started following some of the hosts, but I found it quite time consuming.  Only managed to follow 10 day, so my goal is to follow another 10 everyday and by the 1st I will be able to scrap way and not worry about the administration side.

I have checked my diary and I have absolutely nothing planned for February.  My mom is emigrating to the UK and leaves on Monday 30 Jan, so this month has been hectic.  At least I will be able to drown my sorrows in scrapbooking and I can't wait.

So until the 1 February 2012........ Ciaio

Let's Scrap Leap Around the World Blog Hop

When I received the email from Mindi regarding the Let's Scrap leap around the world blog hop, I didn't have to think for longer than 60 seconds before I hit reply with a "count me in".  I had so much fun with the 2011 blog hop that I decided to be more involved in this one.
The blog hop starts on the 1st February and ends on the 29th February (it's Leap year this year and you only get to Leap Around the World every 4 years). Watch this space for your card layout and be prepared to win some candy.  Best I start looking to see what I'm going to put together.

Dazzled flowers

A few months ago I bought a Scrapbook kit from M&M's Scrapbooking Adventures called Wonder.  This kit involved the most amazing tutorial using Dazzles / glitter Spritz.  It took me a while to find this product but OH it was worth it......  I've included the tutorial for everyone to try. Enjoy!

Scrapbook 'n Things kit Challenge

Lara from Scrapbook 'n Things came up with this marvelous idea to have a kit challenge on a monthly basis.  She will supply the kits at a 20% discount.  The kits are great value for money and have all the papers and embellishments needed to finish a page.

The rules are also quite simple.  Use everything in the kit and use your own original design.  What's up for grabs - an American Crafts Cardstock pack valued at R285-00 + a gift voucher.  The gift voucher is made up as follows - for every kit sold, R10-00 will be donated to the gift voucher.  Lara will also decide from all the entries which page she would like to make as a kit and sell at Scrapbook 'n Things.  A percentage of these sales will go to the ladies whose page is chosen for this kit.

Unfortunately I can't put a picture of my layout on my blog in case anyone steals my ideas.  So watch this space - all will be revealed on 31 December 2011 when this challenge closes.

I got published in Scrapping & Kie

 A CHILD IS BORN
Lorna Marsh from Scrap Collections asked if I would design a page using their Christmas papers for an advert that she was doing in the Scrapping & Kie.  I did and my page "A child is born" was published as well as all the cards I made.  So if you're interested in buying a full kit with all the papers, embellishments and a full set of notes, email me on sharoncoetzer@telkomsa.net.  The cost is for a kit is R130-00 + R35-00 for postage (if applicable).

2nd Scrapbook Fundraising Day

Thank you to all the ladies who attended our 1st Fundraising Scrap day for Brendan Bowen.   It was a huge success, however there is unfortunately still a shortfall in funds, and due to this we have decided to arrange another fun Scrapbooking Morning and hope you can all attend (or purchase kits).

You will create a double layout that has been specifically designed by Michelle van Wyk for this event.  Using KAISER craft new range of papers called HUNT & GATHER, this layout is perfect for those Bushveld, Holiday, Camping, Safari or even fishing photos.  Living in South Africa, we all have tons of photos that fall in these categories.  Our layout will include a pocket and flaps to hold up to 16 photos (or more !!)

(LOVE BLOOMS HERE)

This layout was designed by Sharon Coetzer.  It is not specifically a valentine page.  I used photo’s of children that I work with at a baby home. This layout includes an envelope with tags and some sewing
